🇪🇸 Spain Launches New Monthly Nationwide Transport Card:
On 19 January 2026, Spain is launching a monthly nationwide unlimited transport pass for residents only. This pass covers (initially) Renfe Cercenias, Media Distance trains, and national intercity buses. The pass excludes high-speed AVE/Avlo trains.
Cost: 60/month for adults, €30/month for under 26. The aim is to make commuting more affordable for residents.

🇨🇭 Migros Ferien offers 5x Cumulus Points for Train + Hotel Trips
Until 2 February 2026, book train travel through Migros and get 5x Cumulus points.
🚆 New Routes:
Budapest to Belgrade - passenger service is expected to start between the end of February and mid-March, with a trip duration of 3h17. Trains will link Budapest Keleti and Belgrade Centar every 4 hours.
Basel to Copenhagen and Malmö (Sweden) - A direct night train is expected to start by Spring 2026. Total journey is 16 hours, and will run three times per week (Wed, Fri, Sun from Basel, Thurs, Sat, Mon from Malmö).

Great for spontaneous travellers - Eurostar Snap offers fares up to 50% off for last minute journeys. You pick the date of travel and destination, and the train information will be sent to you 48 hours prior to departure. These tickets are no-refundable, non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and non-cancellable.
Return routes are Paris-Amsterdam, Brussels-Cologne, London-Brussels or Paris.
🇨🇭 SBB Adds Seat Specific Reservation to their Booking App
Choose your own seat is now available on IC2 (Zurich-Lugano), and IC21 (Basel-Lugano) trains, and on the Zurich-Paris TVG route with a graphical carriage view on the SBB app. The function will be gradually expanded throughout 2026.
🇮🇹 Sardinia Chilivani-Porto Torres Route Shut Down for Upgrade
A major modernisation program fully suspends all rail traffic between 19 January and 13 June 2026 on Sardinia’s main rail route in the north island.
🇳🇴 Scenic Pick of the Week - Oslo to Bergen, Norway
This 7-hour scenic train journey (Bergensbanen) takes you through Norway’s highlands, spectacular mountain views, fjords, and Europe’s highest plateau (Hardangervidda). Trains are modern and comfortable with wifi and on-board restaurant service. Trips start from €50 one-way.
💡 This Week’s Tip
Travel mid-week when possible to get the best fares - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday fares are usually cheaper than Friday afternoon, Sunday afternoon, and Monday morning.
